Whiskey - Sazerac Rye
If you follow me or my husband on social media, you already know that we love whiskey - specifically bourbon. I've never been a big drinker. I can't drink beer because something in the beer makes me feel terribly bloated and to be honest, it kills my stomach. So that was out. I loved margaritas and mixed drinks but found out that I am diabetic so I vowed to steer clear of any sweetened adult beverage - say no to carbs and sugar! So I found whiskey and bourbon. It's a sipping drink and it was on my list of drinks that I could have! I started to be able to taste the difference and became intrigued with the craft and the tasting notes in bourbon. To make a sort of long story short, me and my husband are 100% into bourbon/whiskey. And no.... we are not alcoholics and are responsible drinkers... so no judging here.
Sazerac Rye has deep roots in New Orleans where it was served in saloons or "coffee houses" in the 1800s. Sazerac is the parent company of Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky and is located in New Orleans. This is a straight rye whiskey and not bourbon - it's pretty delicious. I drink all my whiskey on the rocks. It's just how I prefer it.
The tasting notes on the website for Sazerac 6 year rye whiskey states, "aromas of clove, vanilla, anise and pepper. Subtle notes of candied spices and citrus. And finishing notes of licorice." I can taste the vanilla, anise, and the spice with a little hint of citrus. I would rate this whiskey as a 7 on a scale of 1-10.
Mmmmm.... let's sip this in front of a warm fire - the only thing we're missing is fall weather. COME ON FALL! So ready for fall weather.
